Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Application
Obtaining FCA authorisation or ‘Part4A Permission’ as it is known formally from the FCA to conduct ‘regulated activities’ in the UK can be complicated, expensive and time consuming. This involves understanding the regulator’s assessment procedures and preparing for the regulator’s authorisation process, from putting together an application pack, to assisting with responses to questions raised by the regulator as part of the FCA’s Q&A sessions.
Compliance Audits/Health Checks
Regularly reviewing your compliance framework not only helps you to ensure you are meeting your regulatory requirements but also provides you with peace of mind that you have the right compliance policies, processes, systems and controls in place.
Compliance SUPPORT
With the fast pace of changing regulation and the often-significant demands on internal resources, it is difficult to keep up with new regulations, new risks or changes in the direction of a business. In these circumstances, we can provide the resources that you require to address discrete projects or to provide the support required in both implementing new procedures and addressing recently identified issues.
Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR)
Replacing the FCA’s Approved Persons Regime (which remains in place for Appointed Representatives), FCA authorised firms are no longer able to apply ‘Control Functions’ but must instead appoint Senior Management Functions (SMFs). These functions are typically held by the most senior people within a firm. This forms part of the Senior Managers element of SM&CR. The second element of SM&CR, the Certification Regime (CR), requires that firms determine whether they are required to appoint one or multiple Certification Functions (CFS).

complaints handling
We have vast experience in handling small firm retail client complaints. Dealing with the client, the PI Insurer and Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). We make an independent assessment as to whether the complaint has merit or not and, in either instance, advise on the best way it should be dealt with. If required, we can undertake all necessary correspondence.
Treating Customer Fairly (TCF)
Help to ensure that TCF is implemented throughout your business. . The FCA no longer carries out TCF specific visits, however this does not mean that they no longer think it is important. It does mean that by now they expect the principles of TCF to be embedded in all firms and to be the bed rock of their business models. The principle is to ‘put the customer first’ in everything which we do.
T&C Supervision / Adviser onboarding
Help with adviser supervision and the adviser recruitment process and sign-off. This is about more than just compliance, it’s about genuinely improving standards. A good T&C programme helps your firm retain its best staff and attract new talent. A poor one can expose your business to accusations of misconduct and financial penalties.
